Know Your Rights

You have important legal rights in any workers' compensation case, but do not rely on the insurance company to tell you about them, because they probably won't. Contact us to answer all of your questions and tell you about your rights that the insurance company may not want you to know, including:

• You have a right to immediate medical care at the employer's expense from a doctor of your choice on employer's list of approved doctors. We can help you select a physician!
• If you have a true emergency, you have a right to medical care at the employer's expense from the closest emergency room. We can help get emergency room bills paid!
• You have a one-time right to change your choice of doctors to another doctor on the employer's approved list without the employer's permission. After that, you can only change doctors with the employer's permission or by order of the State Board of Workers' Compensation. We can help you ask for a change of physician!
• If you use your own transportation, the employer has to pay you mileage for trips to the doctor's office, physical therapy, pharmacy, etc. and reimburse you for parking expenses. If the travel takes you far beyond your home city, you are also eligible for meal reimbursement of up to $30 per day in addition to the mileage reimbursement. We can help you get reimbursed for mileage!
• If you do not have transportation, the employer has to provide you with transportation to your medical appointments. We can help you arrange transportation!
• If you are receiving benefits, there are only certain ways that they can legally be suspended. We can make sure the employer has complied with all legal requirements before suspending your benefits!
• If you are getting weekly income benefits, but they are being paid late, you are entitled to late payment penalties. We can help you get whatever penalties are due!
• If you have received income benefits within the past 120 days, you are entitled to a one-time examination by any doctor of your choosing and the insurance company will pay for it. We can help you select a doctor and get the insurance company to pay for the examination!
